IT chaos disrupts KTMB ticketing, complaints system

NATIONAL railway company Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has been affected by the Microsoft system outage that has disrupted its ticketing and complaints management system.

“Please be informed that the KITS ticketing system and all customer service channels at KTMB are currently experiencing technical disruptions due to a Crowdstrike update for Microsoft Windows.

“Restoration works are underway,” KTMB said in a statement.

Netizens have taken to KTMB’s social media regarding its website and app which was reportedly down.

Major IT outages have hit industries across the world with many airlines, banking, healthcare, broadcast service, internet and businesses affected all over the world.

Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike said a “defect” in one of its software updates hit Windows operating systems.

In Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 has seen long queues as passengers faced delays to check-in.

Both AirAsia and Firefly have said they have been affected by the system failure, resulting in delayed flights and angry passengers. – July 19, 2024.
