THE number of flood victims in Sabah continues to rise this morning, to 464 people from 140 households, up from 328 people (105 households) yesterday.
The Sabah Disaster Management Committee said the number of evacuees at the Penampang Cultural Centre shelter has grown to 279 (93 households) compared to 165 victims (67 households) yesterday.
“The number of people at the relief centre in Dewan Sri Putatan rose to 138 from 34 households compared to 116 from 25 households yesterday,” it said in a statement.
Twenty-nine people were housed in Dewan Balai Raya Kampung Tutu Selupoh and 18 in Dewan Balai Raya Kampung Bontoi, near Tamparuli.
The Sabah Public Works Department said KM0.5-1.55 of Jalan Lintas Luagan in Sipitang was closed to all vehicles because of flood.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy thunderstorms in Kuala Penyu and Beaufort in the interior of Sabah. – July 2, 2024.
