THE Negri Sembilan Football Club (NSFC) have confirmed that their import player, Mika Junco, was a victim of a snatch theft on Friday night in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement, the NSFC said the incident occurred while the player was alone.

“The incident resulted in Mika losing personal belongings, but he is currently safe, and a police report has been lodged,” the statement said.

The NSFC said it strongly condemned such criminal acts and hoped that the authorities would apprehend and bring the perpetrator to justice.

In the same statement, the NSFC also expressed gratitude to the fans and supporters who have shown support to the player during this difficult time.

Earlier, the incident was revealed by the Spanish player on his Instagram page, showing minor injuries to his neck and reporting the loss of a gold chain.

The safety of professional football players in Malaysia has come under scrutiny following a series of attacks.

In May, three members of the national team suffered assaults, including Selangor winger Faisal Halim who was left in a critical condition after an acid attack in a shopping mall.

In another incident, midfielder Safiq Harim, 36, was left unharmed after he was confronted by hammer-wielding men who smashed in his car windscreen.

A third player, Akhyar Rashid, 26, was attacked by robbers outside his home. – July 1, 2024.
