Hamzah’s son accused of taking RM100,000 bribe

MUHAMMAD Faisal Hamzah, the son of Opposition Leader Hamzah Zainudin, pleaded not guilty today to a charge of accepting a RM100,000 bribe.

He was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

Faisal, 40, allegedly accepted the money from Izmir Abd Hamid as payment for Heitech Padu Bhd to appoint Syarikat Rimba Merpati Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Per My Solutions as marketing consultants.

These companies were allegedly paid a commission of RM700,000 after Heitech Padu won a RM33 million tender from the Companies Commission of Malaysia. The tender was for the supply, rental, implementation, training, support, and maintenance of security infrastructure.

Faisal was accused of committing the offence at an office at Publika Shopping Gallery, Jalan Dutamas 1, in March 2018.

Deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat proposed bail of RM30,000 with one guarantor.

Judge Rozina Ayob later set bail at RM25,000 with one guarantor and fixed July 5 for mention.

In April last year, Faisal pleaded not guilty to charges of violating laws governing the cooking oil subsidy. He was charged at the Seremban Sessions Court alongside Azizul Abdul Halim, 55. Both are directors of Rimba Merpati.

The duo were accused of allegedly providing false information by submitting fraudulent invoices on the supposed sale of the oil to a local retail company. – June 5, 2024.
