MUAR MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will be seated with the opposition bloc in the Dewan Rakyat from tomorrow after he pulled support for the unity government, said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul.

Johari said he had received a letter from the Muda president applying to change his seating place in the lower house.

“I have received his letter asking for a change in seating. I have asked the administration staff to move his place to the opposition area,” he told reporters at the Parliament building today.

Yesterday, Syed Saddiq said he has withdrawn support for the government to become the third force.

The Dewan Rakyat is holding a special six-day sitting for the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) mid-term review tabled by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today.

The parliament calendar showed MPs will debate the 12MP review for three days from tomorrow before ministries give their replies on September 18 and 19.

Earlier, Johari received a courtesy call from South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo.

Kim observed the special Dewan Rakyat sitting and met with Senate president Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar. – Bernama, September 11, 2023.
