POLICE chief today said a special task force has been formed to locate M. Indira Gandhi’s ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah and daughter Prasana Diksa.

Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Division (CID) acting director Huzir Mohamed will be leading the team.

Fuzi added the police had met with civil society group Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) last week after it had expressed interest in assisting the authorities in reuniting Prasana with her mother following a court order.

“There was a meeting among police officers, including those from the CID.

‘We had exchanged views and information on the matter with Ingat.

“The task force led by the CID acting director will continue their effort to track (Riduan and Prasana),” said Fuzi at a media conference held at the police training centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

Fuzi added police cannot confirm if Riduan is still in the country.

“There have been reports saying he is in Kelantan and some say in Johor. But he has not been found yet. I cannot specifically say if he is in the country or not.

“We will use whatever lead we have to track him and the girl.”

Earlier this week, Indira confirmed that she and Ingat had met with Fuzi who agreed to set up a task force to find Prasana.

“He agreed to set up a task force immediately.

“We have exchanged information and we hope to have more communication on their efforts to locate her,” she told The Malaysian Insight.

She also taken her plight to Malaysian Human Rights Commission, asking the commission to help to hold a public inquiry to find Prasana.

She and Ingat had lodged a complaint against the police and government for the refusal to act upon the court order that resulted in Prasana’s disappearance.

Prasana, 11, had been taken away by her father nine years ago.

Bukit Aman had said despite media statements and calls for the public to help track down Riduan, the authorities are no closer to finding him.

Police have been searching for Riduan since a warrant was issued by the Ipoh High Court on May 20, 2014. – April 24, 2019

  • Only after all the waste of time lapse and big hue and cries from the public . IGP you are totally a hopeless and a racist to the bones. We cannot trust an iota of you and demand you resign and face charges for the unbelivable activities that you have breached in your line of duties.
