HOUSEHOLDS earning less than RM3,000 a month will receive RM100 aid for every schooling child from Year One to Form Five, said Lim Guan Eng.

The Finance Minister said the aid was being given because the government understood and cared about the needs of parents who have to spend money to get their children ready for the new school term, which starts next month.

“The ministry is setting aside a special allocation of RM328 million to help parents cope with the cost of living.

“The money will be channeled to the Education Ministry to be distributed to schools beginning next month.

“The government is committed to providing quality education to all children, regardless of their background, including helping them with their school needs,” he said in a statement today.

This is the latest round of aid that Putrajaya is dispensing as part of its effort to help the public cope with the rising cost of living.

Two days ago, Lim also announced a special allocation of RM77 million to help Felda settlers meet their outstanding payments for the current year.

Yesterday, he also announced an allocation of RM164,783,400 to help some 300,000 rubber tappers deal with their loss of income in the current monsoon season. Each tapper will receive RM600. – December 22, 2018.
