A CEO of a company has been remanded for another four days to help investigations into alleged corruption in the supply of equipment for armoured carrier vehicles for the army.

Putrajaya magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim today extended the remand period of the 45-year-old Datuk until Monday following an application by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).

The court, however, released the same company’s chief financial officer – a 53-year-old woman – on a RM50,000 bail. Her first remand expired today.

The duo were arrested on Sunday night when they presented themselves at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to give their statements. They were then remanded for four days which ended today.

Sources said they were arrested for suspicion of receiving money over a project worth RM17 million to supply equipment for armoured carrier vehicles – the AV8 and Adnan – sometime between 2014 and 2017.

They were believed to have accepted bribes amounting to several hundred thousands of ringgit from several companies.

Sources also said that MACC had seized several luxury handbags and foreign currencies from the CEO’s house last night. – May 16, 2019.
