THE Kuala Lumpur High Court was today told that the five men who were accused of being involved in the murder of Deputy Public Prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais were detected gathering for two continuous days near the victim’s house before he was reported missing.

Inspector Ahmad Zikri Zalik, 30, from the Sentul District Police Headquarters, said the five men A.K. Thinesh Kumar, S. Ravi Chandaran, M. Vishwanath, S. Nimalan and G. Gunasekaran were detected together at the Menara Duta 2 Condominium on September 3 and 4, 2015.

“There were several records of outgoing and incoming calls on September 3 and 4 made by them which were successfully detected at Menara Duta 2.

“Based on the records of calls which were made by all of the accused, it can be summarised that they were together two days in a row near the victim’s residence.

“However, I don’t know their motives for being in the area,” he said when replying to a question from Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin. In addition, Zikri also said the five accused were also detected together at Newtown Hotel in Petaling Jaya, namely, about 500m from the workshop where the DNA sample of the victim was found on the toilet door,” he said.

Zikri, who was the former investigation officer in the case, said the case was initially classified as “missing person” before another investigation officer took over and classified it under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The five men pleaded not guilty to a charge of killing Kevin Morais between 7.00am and 8.00pm on September 4, 2015 between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and Number 1, Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

Dr R. Kunaseegaran, 54, who is the first accused, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of being in cahoots with the five in the killing of Kevin Morais at the same place, date and time.
